Nina Frances Russell My Story

Nina Sherwin, nee Russell, (1906-1994) married Wylie Sherwin in 1930 at the age of 24, after the death of Mildred, Wylie’s first wife. She became the instant stepmother of four kids not much younger than herself: Virginia, 14; Ted, 13; Clifford, 11; and Betty, 10.

Russell F. Sherwin Growing up in Wyoming

Russell Sherwin (b.1937—) is the only son of Wylie and Nina Sherwin. He attended the one-room Wapiti grade school 20 miles west of Cody, Wyoming and graduated from Cody High School in 1955. This chronicles Russ’s life from the early ‘40s through high school in his 2003 journal, Growing Up In Wyoming. |
Wylie Sherwin (1895-1967) came to Powell, Wyoming when he was 13 years old with his parents, George F. and Hallie Sherwin. He describes his life as a cowboy on Crooked Creek in the Bighorn Canyon from 1909 to 1920, his marriage to Mildred Huntington, and the birth of their first three children.

Ted Burton Sherwin The Sherwins of Northfork

Ted B. Sherwin (1917-2006) is Wylie and Mildred Huntington’s oldest son. He attended the one-room Wapiti grade school, and Cody High School, as did his siblings, and graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in journalism. Ted continues the narrative through the 1930s in his 1985 journal, The Sherwins of Northfork.
